Firefox OS coming to smartphones in 2013

A new os for cell cellular phones similar to the Mozilla Firefox web online browser has got the support of several major telecommunications organizations, turning up the heat on Search engines and The apple company in the cellular mobile cellphone industry. Mozilla said on Thursday that cellular network providers Deutsche Telekom, Dash,

Smart, Telecom Croatia , elenor and Etisalat are support the Firefox foundation.

The non-profit organisation which evolved from Netscape after the web online browser battles 14 decades ago, said mobile cellphone creators ZTE and TCL Interaction Technological innovation will throw out the first Firefox OS cellular phones using Qualcomm's Snapdragon processor chips in beginning 2013.

Mozilla, which encourages the combined development of open-source Web programs, currently produces most of its income from a contract which makes Search engines the standard search provider for Firefox users.

Broad assistance from telecommunications organizations and mobile phone creators is crucial for any new cellular mobile cellphone foundation to take off in a industry increasingly covered with Google Operating program application, which has a business of around 60 %, while Apple's iPhones run on its exclusive iOS application.

In addition to promote commanders Operating program and The apple company, a number of smaller players like RIM, Ms and Samsung's Bada are also competitive for a discuss of the cellular application industry.

But H Kovacs, us president of Mozilla Corp, said he was confident there was room in the marketplace for a Firefox foundation, being an start Web-based alternative to the for-profit promotions from Search engines and The apple company.

"I think this will be very widely implemented," Kovacs told Reuters in an interview.

After an initial launch with Telefonica's Vivo product in South america beginning next season Firfox-powered cellular phones will be released on other growing markets and then elsewhere, Kovacs said.

Phone organizations have tried before to create systems to combat the growing popularity of Operating program, but have so far unsuccessful as they had to create from scratch the environment around platform: designer tools, programs, designer group.

"Success for any foundation is dependent on the virtuous group of scale and strength. Manufacturer and owner commitment is essential to driving designer assistance and consumer interest which in turn firms demand for the foundation," said He Blaber, specialist at CCS Understanding.

The new Firefox foundation is designed to get over the problem by hitting into a group of 3 to 5 million web designers and most of the applications are already created on HTML5, the preferred standard for developing cellular online browser content.

The sector has seen the death of many competitive systems in the last few decades, including operator-led projects like LiMo, and also Palm's WebOS and The lenders Symbian systems which never win enough assistance from designers and device producers.

The free Firefox foundation could put pressure on Ms and Search engines, which themselves are trying to attract mobile phone producers. But Ms gathers certification fees of up to $20 per Windows mobile cellphone and also gathers royalties from creators of Operating program gadgets.

Booming market
TCL, which uses Alcatel product for its cellular phones, and ZTE are both hoping the new Firefox foundation will help create up for their late entry to the flourishing cellular mobile cellphone industry.

The growth in cellular mobile cellphone sales is reducing this season from the fender decades of 2010 and 2011 but is still expected to be running at some 40 % from a season ago.

Mozilla, which has been working with Telefonica on developing the application, demonstrated the foundation and its key features in Feb at the Mobile World The legislature display in Spain's capital.

The new foundation includes HTML5 with some of the core elements of Linux system technology, reducing the need for a separate os and allowing fast roll-out of new mobile cellphone designs.

In competition with Mozilla's Firefox, Search engines has introduced its Firefox online browser and browser-based os for pcs.

"The line between online browser and os is getting blurry," Kovacs said.

Cutting some levels of a traditional os allows the new foundation to be used on smartphones on the market with reduced handling power and with less expensive materials.

Telefonica has said the mobile cellphone cost will be significantly less expensive than the low-end Operating program designs, meaning Firefox cellular phones can be priced at levels around $50 taking out owner financial aid.

This measures up with cost of around $200 for a typical cellular mobile cellphone.

Ovum specialist Chip Dillon said costs of the gadgets will be the key for their achievements, and inquired whether reducing out some levels of os would bring significant savings.

"It is hard to see how you could create them much less expensive than comparable Operating program devices," Dillon said.
